In this post I will share with you the highlights of Capri and how to see them all in one day trip!
From Rome to Naples
If you are coming from Rome, you can either take the train to Naples or Sorrento. Sorrento is much nicer but we took the train to Naples. We took the Italo which is the fastest and newest train. From Rome to Naples, takes an hour and a half to get there.
From Naples to Capri
From Naples train station you’ll want to take a taxi to the Calata di Massa where you can hop on either the Hydrofoil or Water Taxi. You can walk like we did but it’s about a 30 minute walk from the Naples Train Station to where the port is.
To make the most out of your trip, I recommend taking the HydroFoil as it’s quicker.
Hydrofoil: 50 minutes
Water Taxi: 80 minutes
Note: The Hydrofoil goes fast and it can be a little rough on the stomach!
Blue Grotto Boat Tour
When you get off the Hydrofoil, you’ll see a sign for Boat Tours to the Blue Grotto. Take the 1 hour boat tour as you have a lot to see in one day. It’s about €18 euros per person.
Once you get to the cave, you’ll notice it takes awhile to get into the Blue Grotto. This is because they can only fit so many row boats inside at once.
Cash Is King
Important: Make sure to have cash on you because in order to enter the Blue Grotto, they charge €14 per person and will ask you when you get into the row boat right before heading into the Blue Grotto!
Ask the skipper in advance to take you to the stairs when you are finished viewing inside the Blue Grotto. This will save you a boat load of time so you can get the most out of your trip!
You have to duck down into the boat and the skipper pulls you through the entrance of the cave.
Inside the Blue Grotto, our skipper sang for us!
After the Blue Grotto, the skipper let us out by the stairs. Climb the stairs and hop on either the bus or taxi to Monte Solaro Chairlift (Anacapri).
We took the taxi because it was quicker and we didn’t want to wait for the bus to fill up. It was €20 for the ride.
Dave enjoying the taxi ride!
Monte Solaro Chairlift
Take the Monte Solaro Chairlift to the very top of Anacapri to see the most beautiful views of the island and ocean!
Hours: March – October: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm; November – February: 10:30 am – 3:00 pm
Enjoying gelato at the top of Anacapri!
Stopped for Lunch
Before leaving the island, we stopped at a restaurant to have a real Caprese Salad which is one thing Capri is known for!
After lunch, we took the bus back down to Marina Grande. Feel free to jump in the water before hopping back on the Hydrofoil back to Naples.
