It’s time to say Goodbye to hectic mornings! No one likes it when the alarm clock rings, you jump out of bed to scramble and rush out the door. We all know depending on the type of morning we have will influence how we feel, act and think throughout the rest of your day.
Since it’s the New Year, I wanted to share with you some of my healthy habits I’ve adopted into my morning routine. When you develop healthy habits in the morning, you set your day up for success. These tips are all pretty easy to accomplish and will set you up for a successful day.
1.) Wake Up Earlier –
Yes! I know it may be hard at first if you’re not a morning person but try to wake up earlier. Depending on the time you currently wake up and the time you have to leave the house for school or work, I suggest waking up anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour earlier than your normal time. When you wake up early, you’ll have more time for you! At first you might not like it but trust me once you get into the habit you’ll look forward to it because it’s something you are doing for you!
2.) Take a 10 Minute Walk –
When I wake up in the morning, one of the first things I like to do is to take my dogs and go for a 10-minute walk. It is so refreshing and peaceful. It’s a nice way to wake my body up and get it moving. Plus, it’s a great way to get some steps in first thing in the morning.
3.) Drink Water –
When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I like to grab is a bottle of water. I like to drink a full 20-ounce bottle of water before I go to eat breakfast or drink coffee. Water revs up the metabolism, hydrates you, and helps your body flush out toxins.
4.) Drink A Smoothie or Juice –
For Breakfast, my usual favorite go to is a green smoothie or if you’re a Rockstar a green juice would be great too! In the morning, I like to sneak in some greens and the way I do this is through a smoothie.
My favorite smoothie is this Tropical Green Smoothie recipe:
- 1 cup spinach (I use the frozen spinach)
- 4-5 frozen pineapple chunks
- ½ of a banana
- 1-1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 1 scoop Vegan Protein Powder
I use this Nutri-Bullet which works great for making smoothies, creamy soups and sauces!
5.) Take a Multi-Vitamin –
The vitamin I use is Garden of Life Women’s Multi Gummy Vitamins. These are Vegan, Organic, Non-GMO, Kosher and taste like fruit chews. I have a really hard time swallowing vitamins so these are perfect for me and something I can keep up with on a daily basis.
6.) Sit in Silence –
My favorite thing about waking up earlier is being able to sit in silence. It’s so peaceful. I like to have a cup of coffee in the morning, check my emails and follow up on social media. I also like to plan out my to do list will be so I can stay focused and stay on track for the day.
7.) 10 Minute Workout –
Depending on how I feel, I’ll do 10-minutes of yoga if my body is feeling achy and sore. If I am feeling fine, I’ll do 100 crunches and lift some weights. My favorite YouTube fitness channel is Love Sweat Fitness. She is so energetic and makes every workout fun and fast! It’s like having a best friend right in the room working out with you!
I know everyone is different and we only have so much time in the morning to ourselves but I hope you can take some of my tips and adopt them into your own life. Try starting off with a few of these and see how you feel. I guarantee you’ll feel better and more at ease during your day. Eventually, you’ll actually look forward to waking up early in the morning because you’re doing it for you.
